Finding Inspiration Amid Chaos: My Life and Art This Week

This week has been a whirlwind of life, creativity, and, of course, a bit of chaos—just the way it seems to go in a house full of my small humans (and a few extras). They’ve informed me I have the "cool house," which is both a compliment and a little insight into why things are always buzzing here. Between the hustle of daily life, moments of laughter, and the occasional, "Mom, where’s my [insert random item]?" I’ve managed to find pockets of time to create, reflect, and recharge.
Carving Out Time for Creativity
In those brief, golden moments of quiet, I’ve been working on some new paintings. Painting has always been my way of grounding myself amidst the busyness. This week, I decided to just do my own thing—no plan, no agenda, just letting the brush flow across the paper. The results? A couple of new pieces that feel like little windows into my mood and the rhythm of life lately. There’s something magical about creating art that isn’t tied to a specific goal—it reminds me why I fell in love with painting in the first place.
Small Business Saturday: Less Can Be More
As I’m creating, I’m also preparing for Small Business Saturday, which is just around the corner. I’ve been leaning into the idea that "less can be more"—an inspiration that’s made its way into my holiday card designs. These simple, hand-painted cards feature whimsical ornaments and a sense of understated charm. It’s a reminder that the holidays don’t have to be overcomplicated to be meaningful. I hope these cards resonate with those looking for something heartfelt and unique this season.
Reflecting on My Journey
It hasn’t been all easy this week. As I shared recently, the entrepreneurial journey can be full of doubts. Spreading excitement about my products, finding the right customers, and hitting my business goals are constant challenges. But I remind myself that every brushstroke, every product, and every connection I make is a step forward.
Seeing my items now available at Humble Bee Flowers—a flower shop in Maine owned by someone I worked with for 10 years before she started her business—is one of those moments that fills me with pride. It’s a full-circle moment that reminds me how far I’ve come and how much more there is to do.
Moments of Joy and Magic
Of course, no week is complete without a little magic. Earlier in the week, my mom texted me the single word "transparency." It felt serendipitous because I’d just scribbled "transparent, see; transparent sea" in my notepad. Moments like these feel like little nudges from the universe to stay authentic, embrace the process, and keep moving forward.
And then there was that incredible owl sighting during my walk with Peanut Butter. It’s rare to see one in the wild, and the timing couldn’t have been better—it felt like an omen of wisdom and transformation. Maybe it’s a sign I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
Looking Ahead
As I look ahead to next week, I’m ready to keep juggling the chaos of life with the quiet moments of creativity that fuel me. From new paintings to preparing for Small Business Saturday, there’s so much to be excited about. If you’ve been following along, thank you for being part of my journey—it means more than you know.
Until next time, I hope you find moments of joy and inspiration amidst the chaos, just as I have.
With love,Rachael
